Review of Grimspace by Ann Aguirre

Sirantha Jax has the rare J-gene that gives her the ability to jump ships through Grimspace. Even though this talent cuts her life expectancy, she’s practically considered a celebrity until a freak accident kills her pilot and leaves her the sole survivor. She's accused of killing everyone on ship and is unable to defend herself because she has no memory of what truly happened. Jax is taken to a facility and is interrogated and forced to go through dream therapy with the believe that her superiors are trying to help her. What she soon finds out is that helping her is the farthest thing from their minds.

A mysterious man breaks her out before she breaks under the stress and offers her freedom, if she's willing to help their cause. March, the man who got her out, needs Jax's help to establish a new breed of jumpers not under the Corp's thumb. He's willing to do anything to accomplish this. Jax has always only been good at one thing - Grimspace. She should have burned out years ago. Will it finally kill her this time?

Grimspace is a gritty, action-packed science fiction story. It definitely packs a punch, it's mystery, adventure and romance all in a fantastic package. It's one of those books that make you forget that you should be studying for your exam on Monday. Aguirre's storytelling can go from being heart-breaking eloquent to down right edgy. I definitely look forward to more of Jax and March’s story.

Rachael, are you trying to make cry?? I no want to be an adult, dammit! Seriously though, can I go back to being 18?

Linda, thank you! The cake was in fact the most lovely thing. Boston Cream. So yummy. My dad, the sneak! woke up in the middle of the night and ate the last piece. I'm so getting him back when it's his birthday!

Thank you guys for the wonderful birthday wishes. :)

I'm 18 - you can live vicariously through me. Although, I must warn you - I'm not exciting. I just read books all day and watch reality shows. And House. I love House.

Ah! I feel like I haven't been around here in ages!

Kimberly, thank you! So what you're saying is that I've read a book before you? Right? RIGHT? HAHAAHH! *grins*

T.C., that's my kind of life! Although, I've never watched House which you alread know but I want to because I've heard great things about it. I just hope that it's not on at the same time as Big Brother.

Princess, thank you! :)

Caffey, thanks! And when you read it, I hope you like it too and tell us about it!

Carolyn, thanks! I didn't have tons of fun but it was a nice calm, I guess very-adultish, birthday... in another words, it sucked! lol Kidding.

Chari-dee, it's ok! Thank you! I hear you're branching off so I definitely need to add your blog to my blogroll. :)

Guys, thanks for the lovely birthday wishes, you guys are awesome and yes, I'm getting emotional but dammit! I'm allowed one maudlin moment, right? No? Thank god! *g*

Sorry I'm late (it's taken much longer to catch up since I was out of town than I thought it would), but nevertheless: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :D
